Hello everyone! This is Undead Labs’ roving reporter, Brant. Today is a special day for zombie fans. Today is the first day of ZomBcon, the world’s first Zombie Culture Convention. It’s right here in Seattle, home of Undead Labs, and, as everyone should know, the zombie capital of the world.
This event has drawn the top tier of zombie related talent including George A. Romero, Bruce Campbell, Max Brooks, Roger Ma, Chuck Palahniuk, and Malcolm McDowell. With such an amazing gathering of zombie-genre heroes, how could we not pitch in by sponsoring the discussion panels, workshops, and special events that are happening all weekend? Of course it was also a great chance to get the lab logo out there in front of the genre’s most devoted fans.
But, I have to admit, there is a seedier side to this…
We’ve been working so hard on our game that it is hard to get out of the studio except to sleep. Well, until ZomBcom came to town. I suddenly found that I needed to head out of the office, hit the 15 bus north and “make sure our logo was being displayed correctly.” The truth is that I am a total effing fanboi and needed an excuse to go get autographed posters from Romero, some amazing comic art prints from local artists, and to attend a round table with Max Brooks.
This picture is NOT of me getting the Zombie Survival Guide signed by Mr. Brooks…
This picture is NOT of some incredibly nice, talented and, okay, somewhat attractive triplet sisters who are currently filming a zombie TV show…
Here is a picture that in NO WAY depicts myself or my Undead Labs cohort, James, having an incredible time here at the convention…
HEY! You should come to the convention! Just look for someone wandering around with a brown Undead Labs hoodie on, or someone wearing a white labcoat with the lab logo on the front. Say hi, tell us that you read this, and you will get… Well, our appreciation (that’s all I was budgeted, we are a startup you know!). It’s a fun convention with some really dedicated people running the show and some amazing vendors selling zed-gear who will lighten your pockets of pesky green bills.
Our involvement this year is a small one, but that’s because we want to blow your socks off when we come to the show in force. It’s our plan to continue to grow our partnership with ZomBcon as our zombie-survival game gets closer to completion. Until then, come down and walk around the convention with us and try not to giggle too loudly when Bruce Campbell goes on stage!
For no reason relevant to this article other than that it’s cool, here’s a new concept piece from our very own Doug Williams to help pass the time.
See you at the con.
