Together We Sparkle and Shine

It started as a little joke with one of our regulars. A guy won a shirt, and when we asked him if he minded getting a different color than what he’d expected, he replied, “Does this mean you’re gonna buy a pink shirt and bedazzle State of Decay on it?”

CHALLENGE. ACCEPTED.

Life After Zombies: Desertion

Below is a page from the personal diary of the Trumbull County Librarian Jamie McCraren.

Cecily Gunderson (No relation to the park ranger, I checked) and Aaron Hampton are leaving the Valley.

They’re young, “in love”, and more importantly, Cecily thinks that they’ll be able to find a thriving human civilization outside of the Valley, if they just go far enough. Thankfully, she’s not naive enough to believe that Danforth is the answer. We’ve gotten those reports and they aren’t pretty. So, that’s the good news. The bad news is that it means they’re going too far to make it easy for them to come home.

Wearing Decay On Your Sleeve – The Tattoo Post

sodbw300x119

It started casually, as every completely bonkers thing does. One of the players (who’d been part of the community for another game I worked on, many years ago) asked if my tattoo policy was still in place.

“Of course it is,” I said.

Another player asked what that policy was. I replied, “Oh, if you’re crazy enough to get a tattoo related to the game, I’m crazy enough to give you a free copy of each game we do.”

And here we are. That’s really all there is to it, but for those of you asking, here are some guidelines:

Life After Zombies: Beatrice

My Grandma would say that Beatrice Frasier is a pistol, and if you haven’t met her, do it while you can. One of the survivors from Snyder’s was over last week, telling us a story of coming upon Beatrice upside down in her car, laughing. All around her, legs, arms, torsos and heads were spread out like discarded bowling pins. Her first words when she saw him were, “I think I pulled too hard to the right.”

They got her car upright and someone over at Fred’s fixed her up so she was running again. Beatrice is apparently a demon on wheels and is not only the oldest resident of Trumbull Valley, but also has the highest kill count.

I was fortunate to be able to do a short interview with her. Bob transcribed the tape, and the text follows.

A Letter From Jeff

theheader

Just a few short moments ago at the Xbox E3 2016 Briefing in Los Angeles, we announced State of Decay 2 to the world.

It’s been a few years since we announced our partnership with Microsoft Studios to start building the future of State of Decay, and we’re thrilled (and a little relieved) to finally be able to talk about it. As a full sequel with much higher ambitions, we had to wait until development was far enough along to speak confidently about what the game will be when it gets into your hands (or maybe, on your hard drive). We’re a development team that enjoys direct, regular interaction with fans of our games, so it’s been hard for us to stay silent about something we’re so excited about, but as of today we can finally tell you that it’s coming.

During that time we’ve had the opportunity to see and hear what millions of you enjoyed about State of Decay. Through Twitch streams, to Twitter, the always-passionate Steam forums, in our own community forums, and — perhaps most of all — through meeting so many of you in person at game conventions and fan events, we’ve heard you clearly. We’ve considered many paths for State of Decay over the past few years, but the overwhelming majority of you said you wanted a bigger, badder, bolder, smoother State of Decay that you could play with your friends.

And so that’s exactly what we’re making.

State of Decay 2 builds upon the unique blend of open-world exploration, third-person action, and survival-fantasy role playing we pioneered in the original State of Decay, and then adds drop-in cooperative multiplayer. The world of State of Decay 2 is larger, more dangerous, and more unpredictable than ever, so if you choose, you can put your survival plan to the test with up to three other players.
