Okay, if you guessed the mysterious addition to the nav bar on our website was going to be “a store,” you’re awesome. Or sentient. Or both! Anyway, I’m delighted to announce that tomorrow is the grand opening of the long-requested State of Decay gear store, courtesy of our publisher. As announced, we will be live streaming tomorrow from the Lab as guests of the Microsoft Studios Twitch channel at (EDIT) 2:30 PM PDT/5:30 PM EDT/10:30 PM UTC. We’re just going to hang out, play the game, and take a look at some of the working samples the people doing the store sent for us to approve.
There still isn’t anything I’m allowed to say about what we’re working on, but there is something new coming to our website on Friday. It’s something many of our old friends have been requesting for awhile, and thanks to our publisher, it is happening. Check out this image:
Guess what we’ve blurred out! Post your idea in the forum thread attached to this post – all correct guesses go into the hat, and after we post what it is on Thursday, I’ll mail State of Decay decals to a few randomly chosen winners.
On Friday at 2 PM PDT/5 PM EDT/10 PM UTC, please join Geoff and Brant on a special Twitch (edit: hosted by the Microsoft Studios Twitch, broadcasting live from Undead Labs) to celebrate…the thing.
We are totally excited for Phase 1 of the thing…but truth be told I’m more excited for Phase 2. Anyway, hit the comment button and add your guess!
EDIT TO ADD: Hey, guys, it was the merch store. Phase one is the stuff you see today. Phase two will be more elaborate, fancy things that take longer to produce 😉
We’ve posted our last dev bio for the year, our last bit of lore, and given out our annual holiday wallpaper. There’s nothing left but the annual wrapping-up post. But what can I say? 2015 has been wild – from wonderful highs, to the lowest lows. Through it all, we’ve worked our asses off, and we’ve been lucky enough to have you by our side. Sometimes literally.
We’re still going to be heads down and noses to the grindstone for the foreseeable future, just like Jeff said when he announced the deal with Microsoft for the future of State of Decay. In that post, he said the road would take years to travel. That was nothing but the truth, eh? If you’re reading this — a blog post for a game which had its original release in 2012, for crying out loud — you are by definition a true friend and a fellow traveler. To you, I say thank you. I hope your holidays are happy, your celebrations joyous, and your gaming everything you dreamed of.
Speaking of that? Keep dreaming with us, and stay tuned. Dreams really, really do come true.
(Apologies if Zombie Santa sounds completely different in your head, but that’s what he sounds like in mine.) This year’s holiday wallpaper fits right in with our tradition of something disgusting to adorn your monitor at this festive time of year. We never seem to run out of zombie ideas around here, what can I tell you. Here it is!
We have a patch for State of Decay: Year One Special Edition (both on XB1 and Steam), and it’s a thing of beauty. Full notes are in the forum link, but the highlights of Content Update 4 include:
