    Day By Day - 1/10/2013

    http://undeadlabs.com/2013/01/news/t...ok-day-by-day/

    Some notes:

-- Fact or Fiction? We chose to write this post as a story, but we also tried to make sure we discussed nothing that wasn't in the actual game. You can assume that anything the characters describe is something that you can do or something that can happen. Yes, that means characters whose Morale is in the toilet might suicide.

-- Capital Letters? Did you see what I did there with "Morale" instead of morale? Phinney capitalized words for actual game systems and components. Morale is a thing to be measured, monitored, and manipulated in State of Decay. So is Pride. Other capitalized things refer to facilities, things to be built and managed - Watchtowers, Infirmaries, Bunkhouses. Y'all working on various wiki projects will have a field day with this!

-- When Did This Happen? In terms of game lore, this "handbook" was "written" before your game experience begins. Remember, our story is that you were on vacation when the outbreak hit. That means everyone else was suffering through the start of the outbreak while you were fishing. What is described is what they all learned before you even knew anything had happened.

I know you have followup questions. I will gather your Qs from this thread at the end of the day Monday, January 14, for our now-traditional followup community Q&A.

Under the workshop section it says just twice. Was a good read though.

Edit: changed it to the right section. ;D

Is their a known list of what influence can be used to "buy" from other survivor groups? or does it only apply to your survivor group?

Just for the record, that outpost shit was my idea.

Lol... my favorite part. Very gripping read. I really don't have a tangible grasp on the scope of how much I want this game...

It get's wider everyday! Thank you so much for this, UL! Many kudos, and keep up the outstanding work!

Edit: I DO have one question... if the Morale is low, instead of suicide or looting and leaving, will the Depressed denizen attempt to murder the other community members? That would suck to find out some sad psychopath murdered your whole neighborhood Michael Myers style....

Great read, I learned a lot actually.

Here were some key points that I was happy to read about....

    Survivors can commit suicide
If morale gets to low, lots of survivors will leave and take a lot of your supplies with you
You need to keep track of places you scavenged to make sure you don't get screwed later by someone trying to make trades with you.
You should be well supplied on materials before you decide to move to a bigger place
Good examples of how morale goes down and how to make it go back up
Survivors can help themselves to whatever they want if you don't lock it up
You build a reputation with other communities by the decisions you make

A few questions after reading this are......

When some of your survivors leave due to low morale or for whatever reason are they gone for good or can you convince them to come back later if they live that long?

I asked for a printable map or an online interactive map you can customize. Seeing how we need to keep up with places we've scavenged I'd like to request this again. I know that wasn't a question, so I'll rephrase, can you guys do this for us, lol?

Are you able to see the what skills a person has before they join you. I don't want to waste my time giving supplies to someone I know is screwing me over unless I know they can contribute (doctor, good with a gun, can cook, etc...)

When you decide to leave one home for another I know you have to leave it for good, but will you have to rebuild everything you've already built all over again. If so, will it take just as long to build it a second time? I'd hate to have everything built and then move to a new place and have to wait forever to have a kitchen again.

How will the food/water resorce be used, Each survivor has their own hunger. Or the food is a stockpile that feeds everyone untill it runs out. (IE.. can you ration it on the survivors you want to keep and let the lazy people go hungry?)

Can you tell a survivor to leave your group?
    Thanks.

I think everyone will eat whenever they need to. I don't think you can pick and choose who gets to eat when and I don't think you can choose how much food is available for them to eat. I think you need to just keep stocking up everyday so it doesn't run out or spoil
